Introduction |

I stumbled into the career of music journalist by accident. A friend who was
working as assistant arts editor at In Pittsburgh Newsweekly suggested I send
him an article. I did. A week later it was published almost verbatim, and a
couple of weeks after that I received a check for fifty bucks and thought,
“That was easy.” So I started sending more articles. My friend moved on,
but four editors, and a new newsweekly later and I’m still being published.
Since the demise of In Pittsburgh most of my articles are not available
anywhere online. I thought it would be a good idea to preserve some of my
favorites here. Some of these are articles I’m very proud of, and some
represent friendships I have made with the musicians I have written about.
There’s a lot of great music out there waiting to be discovered. I hope this
helps.
